St. Francis local community dinner

The Trinity Chapter #138 OES will have a Fall Rummage Sale at the Somerset Masonic Temple 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 13, and 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 14. From left are: Hazel Hillegas, Amy Abramowich, Chris Penzera, Faith Hemminger and Amy Winters. Saturday will be bag day just in time for back to school shopping. There will be homemade food and baked good for sale, clothing, household items and some furniture, even some children's chairs. For those who have items to donate, take them to the Temple between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday or noon to 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Boswell Neighborhood Days: Block Bash party

The Boswell Group Days: Block Get together party is from 12 to 6 p.m. Aug. 14, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 15, on Hower Avenue and Center Avenue. Opening ceremony: time capsule revealing, parade, duck race, bounce residence and impediment program, kids functions, sellers, food stuff, are living music, closing ceremony: replanting new time capsule. After hour occasions will adhere to Saturday at the firemen’s grove, including dwell music, adult drinks, game titles of opportunity.

Guide event

Writer Jim Shea and “character” Marty of “Get Up and Journey” will be at the Meyersdale Train Station/Customer Center from 1-4 p.m. Aug. 14. Food stuff and drinks incorporate absolutely free trail combine, incredibly hot puppies, chips and cold water. Books readily available for purchase and signing. Will be joined by Meyersdale Region Historic Culture, Yoder’s Guest Residence, Crimson Lantern B&B and Donges Drive-in and Motel.

Acquire-out picnic lunch 

St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 335 Locust St., Johnstown, choose-out picnic lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 14. The picnic lunch consists of a barbecue pulled pork sandwich*, cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans and home made cookie. * Vegetarian possibility: Veggie crumbles in barbecue sauce (have to be asked for when ordering). The Portage Area Summerfest, Inc. committee Fundfest from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 15, at the Crichton McCormick Park in Portage. The new committee made the decision to have a scaled-down, 1 day fundraising celebration this 12 months. There will be an antique and typical auto and bike cruise from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to profit the East Hills Kiwanis Group Projects. Musical enjoyment will be UB the DJ commencing at 10 a.m. followed by Jim Hale — 12:30 p.m., Ryan Krinjeck — 2 p.m., Rick Thompson — 3:30 p.m., and Jim Koban — 5 p.m. Craft vendors and food suppliers. There will also be bingo, a basket raffle, 50/50 drawings, and other games to engage in. Free kids’ space with The Household Depot Kids’ Workshop and other functions. The yearly Portage Place Summerfest Golfing Outing will be held at Maple Crest Golfing Class in Portage at 9 a.m. www.portageareasummerfest.com.

Paul family members reunion

Descendants of Calvin and Leora (Baer) Paul collected for their 27th yearly reunion on July 31 in Garrett, at the farm of David and Patty Paul. Fifty-three relatives members and their guests attended.
